Drive against water theft under way in Sindh

A drive against water theft was initiated across the province on the directives of Sindh Caretaker Minister for Irrigation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah.

As a part of the anti water theft drive, Sindh police and officials from the Sindh Irrigation Department conducted a joint operation against illegal water connections and water theft in Benazirabad and registered a case against four people involved in water theft.

Similarly a joint team also removed 59 illegal water lines in Sukkur, seven in Sanghar and 59 Khairpur as well and registered the cases against those who were found guilty of stealing water from water courses .

In a statement issued on Monday, Caretaker Minister for Irrigation warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in breaking water modules.

“No one will be allowed to steal water, it does not matter how influential they are,” read the statement issued by Mushtaq Ahmed Shah.
