The speakers at the gatherings highlighted services rendered by Fatima Jinnah in the creation of Pakistan.
One of such meetings was organised by Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust in collaboration with Tehreek-e-Pakistan Workers Trust. In the meeting, the speakers highlighted Fatima Jinnah’s struggle for the wellbeing of women of sub-continent and her contributions in the fight for a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent.
A dental doctor by profession, Fatima Jinnah was one of the pioneer women in Pakistan Movement and an active member of All India Muslim League. Fatima Jinnah also served as an executive member of Pakistan Movement Committee working under Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
During their speeches, the speakers also highlighted Fatima Jinnah’s role in opposing President Ayub Khan. The speakers also mentioned Jinnah’s decision to contest in the 1965 general election of the country in their speeches and praised her for standing up to Ayub Khan. Fatima Jinnah also wrote a book ‘My Brother’ in 1955 which was published in 1987 after her death on 9 July 1967.
