LARKANA: The Sindh Chief Secretary Major (Rtd) Azam Suleman Khan on Monday issued strict directives to the divisional administration to ensure full implementation of the electoral code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the forthcoming general election-2018.
While presiding over a high-level meeting at the commissioner’s office in Larkana, he asserted to conduct free, free, impartial and transparent polls in the district.
The Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Amjad Javed Saleemi, Larkana commissioner Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, deputy inspector general of police Javed Akbar Riaz, all deputy commissioners and senior superintendents of police of Larkana division, rangers officials and other concerned officers participated in the meeting.
“The electoral code of conduct should be implemented in its true spirit and essence, and without any discrimination amongst the candidates,” he said asserting that a stern action would be taken against candidates who violate the rules.
He further instructed the officers to formulate a committee comprised of revenue, police, rangers and election monitoring officers to finalise arrangements for elections.
“CCTV cameras must be installed without further delay to monitor sensitive polling stations, and standby generators and UPS to provide backup power,” he said while emphasising on cleanliness and provision of potable water to the public. The Larkana commissioner Shaikh briefed the meeting with maps and charts while provincial home secretary Haroon Ahmed Khan directed the concerned officers to perform their duties actively.
