Police charge 14 local bodies’ representatives for violating ECP’s rules

GUJRANWALA: The Gujranwala Police on Monday lodged cases against 14 local bodies’ representatives for participating in election campaigns of various candidates.

According to police sources, many chairmen, vice-chairmen and councilors were found violating the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Cases were lodged against Saeed Ahmed Shad, Rana Muhammad Azeem, Muhammad Jameel, Zubair Janjua, Sheikh Ilyas, Tanvir Ahmed, Yousfa Ansir, Sana Ullah etc.

They further revealed that their portraits were displayed on the banners of various contesting candidates for advertisement. Moreover, the officers removed all such banners from many localities.

Meanwhile, the city police officer (CPO) vowed to take a stern action against violators for violating ECP’s code of conduct.
