LAHORE: The doctors’ community would provide proper counseling to the patients on how to prevent themselves from different diseases, apart from providing medical facilities and will also educate them on their health issues, preventive measures and their solutions.

These views were expressed by Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Professor Agha Shabir Ali addressing a workshop on Hajj & Diabetes at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH), held in collaboration with Ameeruddin Medical College on Sunday.

He added that diabetes awareness has an important role for which media is also playing its important role and with the participation of doctors’ community, more positive results can be attained. Other speakers in the workshop said that balanced diet and proper exercise can give good results to the diabetes patients and for Hajj, special measures should be ensured to avoid any complication.

They highlighted that due to hectic schedule during Hajj, more pressure is applied on the human body and so it is important to take proper medication in this regard.

They asked the pilgrims to keep their medicines with them all the time and take care of their insulin level.

This workshop was held with the cooperation of LGH Medical Unit 2 where department head Dr Imran Hassan Khan and his medical team played their role in this regard. Medical experts including Professor Khalid Waheed, Dr Maliha Hameed, Dr Salman Shakeel, Dr Kashif and Dr Fatima Hamdani in their training lectures said that it is the responsibility of the physicians and doctors to properly educate and train their patients before leaving for Hajj and this workshop is aimed at the same objectives.

At the end of the workshop, PGMI Principal Professor Agha Shabir Ali and medical superintendent Dr Mahmood Salahuddin distributed souvenirs and certificates among the participants of this workshop and appreciated such healthy activities.

A separate two-day Hajj training seminar was held at the Luxe Marquee, Phase-8, Defence on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 1pm.
