LARKANA: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate for provincial assembly seat PS-11 Nida Khuhro, backed by his father Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, initiated door-to-door election drive to gather the general public’s support in Larkana ahead of polls.

Reportedly, Nisar Khuhro met influential people of the region including Khokhar and Channa Association’s representatives while his daughter, along with women activists, visited many localities for begging votes.

Nisar denounced Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and accused both of the political rival parties of disloyalty and dividing Sindh.

“GDA supports the construction of Kalabagh Dam, and MQM aims to split Sindh for the formation of new province,” he said adding that the people of Sindh must realise that such policies would be counterproductive and damage the resources of Sindh.

“Those who attired Ajrak to the dictator Zia-ul-Haq were included in GDA, and it is sufficient to prove that they cannot resolve issues of the people of Sindh,” he said adding that PPP is the only party which strived to safeguard the fundamental rights of poor and secure democracy.

He further said that PPP confronted the dictator Pervez Musharraf, Arbab Rahim and Liaquat Ali Jatoi, and staged a sit-in against the construction of Kalabagh Dam.

“GDA would be exposed on July 25, the last day of dictators’ remnants, whereas the arrow would emerge triumphant,” he maintained.

Nida Khuhro, while addressing women voters of her constituency, said that PPP has empowered women and issued Senate tickets to them.

“Through Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), poor women were supported financially,” she said while vowing to double the support, if PPP candidates get elected.

She assured them to issue food cards, and urged them to cast votes to her and called it ‘victory of women’ if she wins.
