FAISALABAD: A police head constable was gunned down as a result of firing by some unknown assailants in Faisalabad.

Sources state that the victim, who was later identified as head constable Gulam Hussain was on his way to the bazaar when some unknown motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on him and managed to escape from the scene.

The constable died on the spot as a result of the firing.

Police took the body into custody and shifted it to a nearby local hospital for medico-legal formalities.

According to police officials the incident looks like a target killing incident because the suspects first stalked the victim and later opened fire on him.

However, a case has been registered against the unknown suspects, and investigation has begun.
