ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power and Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will decide on the proposition of scaling down power tariff by Rs 1 .62 per unit on Tuesday.
Sources said that the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had filed a petition in NEPRA seeking reduction in electricity prices under the head of Fuel Adjustment Surcharge (FAS) in the month of January.
It was noted in the plea that electricity provided to consumers in January, at the rate of Rs 8.25 per unit, was far greater than the cost of production of electricity. Therefore, it urged that consumers be afforded relief by reducing the cost of per unit electricity by Rs 1.62.
