NAB arrests Captain Safdar

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday arrested former PM Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law and PML-N leader Captain (r) Safdar.

Earlier today, Safdar arrived at PML-N’s central office in Rawalpindi, where he addressed several gatherings. Later at 5pm in the evening, he was arrested by a NAB team.

”I had decided earlier to surrender in Tarnol (Mansehra), but as per party’s decision I will surrender now from another city. Surrendering is an act of honor and I respect my party’s decision,” Maryam’s husband and Nawaz’s son-in-law stated in an audio message released earlier.

He further stated that he is an ordinary worker and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) will sweep the upcoming elections from Hazara division.

On Friday, accountability court sentenced him one-year behind the bars due to his involvement in Avenfield reference case. Along with that his wife Maryam Nawaz,and father-in-law, the former ex-premier of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, were also sentenced eight and eleven years in jail, with fine 8-million and 2-million pounds, respectively.

It should be noted that earlier National Accountability Bureau (NAB) stationed its teams in Mansehra, Abbottabad and Haripur, while his name was put on exit control list by the court to bar him from traveling out of the country.
