Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Saturday that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had conned countrymen by entering into an “underhand deal” in the name of Charter of Democracy (CoD).

The CoD is an agreement signed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo and slain former premier Benazir Bhutto, who was also the head of PPP, in 2006.

Addressing a rally, Imran said that both parties had destroyed the country and institutions during the past 10 years. The PTI chief promised that his party would strengthen the institutions if elected to power.

Earlier in the day, Imran also addressed the Ulema Mashaikh conference at Golra Sharif, a renowned shrine in Islamabad, and said a state like Madina should be formed in order to bring the country out of its problems.

He added that Islamic laws should be adopted in order to get rid of the issues faced by Pakistan. He once again demanded that the Raja Zafarul Haq report be made public.

He continued his tirade against former premier Nawaz Sharif, saying: “Allah gave him (Nawaz) many opportunities to serve the country but he did nothing.” He said that Nawaz Sharif had laundered Rs 300 billion abroad and that he would be held accountable.
