Lahore’s so-called ‘development’

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Lahore is portrayed as the most developed city of Punjab by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

Billions of rupees are claimed to have been spent on various infrastructure projects. However, the recent heavy rain in the city have exposed how the government has been unprepared to confront natural calamities.

The recent flooding has not only destroyed the lives and properties of common people, but has also severely damaged many famous roads. This has happened because the material used on them was not of the requisite quality.

Many streets remain flooded with stagnant water. This has made people vulnerable to many diseases, including dengue fever. It seems as if the billions of rupees which are said to have been spent on Lahore’s infrastructure projectsare actually pocketed by our corrupt politicians.
