COAS visits under construction Zalam Kot Tunnel in Malakand

MALAKAND: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Zalam Kot Twin Tube Tunnel in Malakand, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

The 1300-meter long tunnel on Swat Express Way near Chakdara is being constructed by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). It is expected to be completed in December this year.

It will reduce the travel time between Islamabad-Chakdara from 4 hours to 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Furthermore, ISPR said that the army chief praised the efforts and work done by FWO in this regard. COAS also stated the project will lead towards soico-economic development in Pakistan.

Corps Commander Peshawar and DG FWO were also present during his visit.
