KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar on Saturday stated that efforts were being made to keep people of Karachi from voting in the upcoming general election 2018.

”Recently conducted population census in the metropolis and Hyderabad was fraudulent”, the politician claimed while addressing a press conference in Karachi.

Authorities have continued to arrest his party’s workers, in addition to that, raids are still going on, the MQM-P leader further stated.

Sattar stated, “We are concerned about the atmosphere of fear that has been created for workers. We want to know why are these unjustified arrests being made? Why are raids being conducted?”

The party workers and voters were unable to participate freely in the election process, the MQM-P leader alleged.

He complained,”Karachi’s population was listed as less than half of the actual number in the census result. The arrest of our workers is an indicator of pre-poll rigging”.

“You will only see banners of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other parties in Karachi. Our banners have been removed from different parts of the city,” he said. Sattar further said that it looks like as few political parties were ‘favorites’.
