ECO summit to focus on energy, infrastructure and trade ties

ISLAMABAD:Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary has said that Islamabad Declaration draft of the 13th ECO summit has been finalized, focusing on the connectivity among the state members.

Briefing the media after the two-day ECO member countries’ senior officials meeting concluded in Islamabad on Monday, he said that the declaration will be adopted in the meeting of heads of states and governments of the member states on Wednesday.

He said that the recommendations of senior officials meeting will be presented to the council of ministers meeting of ECO member states to be held in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The main focus, he said, of the summit is on connectivity in the sectors of energy, infrastructure, transport and trade among the regional countries and beyond.

He said that five heads of states, three heads of governments, one deputy Prime Minister, and one special envoy will attend the summit meeting on Wednesday.
