The Election Day will decide who is stronger, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or the people of the country, estranged N-Leaguer Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Friday.
Addressing a campaign rally in Chak Jalaldin Rawalpindi, he said that he was invited by PTI chairman Imran Khan to join his party and given a guarantee that he would be awarded as many election] tickets as he wanted. However, he said he had made a decision that this time he would not accept a ticket from any of the mainstream parties. He said that he was not a traditional politician, adding that respect was earned not through holding offices, but rather by serving the people. “The entire Pakistan will witness on July 25 whether these parties are strong or the masses,” he said, “Whenever I am elected, I am elected to serve you and not to fill my pockets.”
The former interior minister had announced last month that he would take part in elections as an independent candidate. The announcement came as the PML-N took a principled stance on allotment of tickets only to those who had applied for it, and the estranged leader did not put in an application.
