KHYBER: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers on Friday held a demonstration in Landi Kotal against the accountability court’s verdict of awarding ten years of rigorous imprisonment to Nawaz Sharif, seven years to his daughter Maryam Nawaz while his son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar has been sentenced to one-year in jail after they were found guilty in a corruption case.

In addition, the court imposed 8 and 2 million pounds sterling on Sharif and his daughter, respectively.

Following the court’s judgement, enraged PML-N workers gathered in Landi Kotal Bazaar and marched to press club while chanting full throat slogans against the judgement served by the accountability court.

Meanwhile, the PML-N’s candidate for NA-43 constituency of Tribal Area-IV Sardar Azam Afridi denounced the verdict, and termed it as ‘a despicable attempt to defeat the party in the upcoming general election-2018’

“The people are well aware of the conspiracy against our party,” he said adding that the general public would still support PML-N.

The agitators vowed to support the party and sacrifice for Sharif’s honour ‘unconditionally’ and called it ‘need of the hour’.
