Meeting reviews security measures for ECO Summit

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday chaired a meeting to review security arrangements for the ECO Summit.

The district administration and high-ups of police from Islamabad and Rawalpindi participated in the meeting in which a security plan was approved for the summit. It was also decided that the foolproof security would be given to the head of states and their delegations. It was also decided for the facilitation of the citizens that there will be a public holiday on March 1 in the twin cities while all government offices and educational institutions will close at 1pm on Tuesday (today). The meeting also approved the traffic plan for twin cities. Kashmir Highway from Zero Point to Serena Hotel chowk would remain close for all kind of traffic for two days. These arrangements are being made not only for the security, but also for the smooth flow of traffic to facilitate the people. However, traffic coming from Murree and AJK would move towards Faizabad Interchange from Convention Center Chowk and could reach to Zero point via Faizabad. Similarly the traffic coming from Golra would be moved towards Faizabad from Zero Point.
