KARACHI: With an aim to contain the menace of financial embezzlement in the province, the provincial government has decided to establish Sindh Anti Corruption Agency – a separate force at par with National Accountability Bureau, Daily Times has learnt.

Talking to Daily Times, Chairman Anti Corruption Establishment, Ghulam Qadir Thebo said that the establishment of the force would help contain the corruption besides it will also work as an independent force like NAB, which will have run under the administrative control of Executive Board.

“In this connection, the anti corruption department has framed rules and regulations which have been forwarded to the Law Department for vetting process. The summary would be floated to the Chief Minister Sindh for approval after that “.

Presently, the Anti Corruption Department has been divided into three parts i.e. Anti Corruption Establishment ACE-I, ACE-II and ACE-III and all the three divisions work under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sindh.

However, after the formation of the Sindh Anti Corruption Agency, there would be an Executive Board that would be headed by board’s chairman, added.

Moreover, the new force would also contain the issue of shortage of staff in the province that includes nine zones (headed by SP), and 29 Circle Offices headed by Circle Officers in each district .

“We are also planning to have a separate Anti Corruption Complex like Punjab so as to house all the offices at one place. Besides, we are also in contact with the Punjab government for the case study of Case Management System, an online system having all the documentations online”.

“The anti corruption department is also supposed to work for creating awareness among the masses, introduce preventive measures against corruption. For this, we have recently published a detailed performance report which has received high appreciation from the senior authorities”, Thebo further said.
