Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan Dr Omar Zakhilwal Wednesday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The two dignitaries exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and the regional security. The current peace and security situation in Afghanistan was also brought under discussion during the meeting, the ISPR statement said. Ambassador Zakhilwal lauded the role of General Bajwa in improvement of relations between the two countries, the statement added. The meeting comes a day after President Donald Trump’s point person for the region Ambassador Alice G Wells held talks with the army chief and discussed the role Pakistan can play in bringing about peace in Afghanistan.
