Lahore becomes Venice

Sir: Every time the election comes around, multiple time Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif promises to turn one country or another into ‘Paris’. However, the recent rains seem to have turned his pet city into Venice instead. In all of this, it has been forgotten that these were record breaking rains. Never before has Lahore received 252 milliliters of rain in such a short timespan. Therefore, instead of using this disaster to score political points,our political leaders must take a serious stance on climate change. This is an enemy which cannot be negotiated with or defeated militarily. Action must be taken before it is too late.
