Sore losers

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Ever since Pakistan was founded, there has not been a single election which was not tainted by allegations of pre-poll or post-poll rigging. While the election winners create a big hullaballoo about how popular they are, the losers cry foul, saying that their opponents have used unfair means. Conveniently, everyone denies responsibility for all that is going wrong in the country, and the cycle of allegations continues.

Today, former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif accuses his opponents of creating hindrances in the way of progress and prosperity. He also says his ouster is to blame for the devaluation of our currency. Here one must ask,is the controversy he is creating right now, with the elections just around the corner, good for democracy? Our leaders must realise that elections are like a sport. Crying foul when one loses accomplishes nothing. If one team wins, it can accomplish nothing by complaining. Instead, it must prepare for the next event.
