GUJRANWALA: The Provincial Election Commission (PEC) on Wednesday issued approval for the prisoners to cast votes through postal ballots while the administration of Gujranwala Central Jail sent the list of prisoners to the returning officers (ROs) to acquire ballot papers.
Reportedly, 197 prisoners showed their interest for casting votes. According to the directives issued by the election commission, the ballot papers must be send back to the returning officers within the given time period.
Meanwhile, thousands of banners, portraits and posters were removed from many areas of the district for violating code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The code of conduct specifies that size of portraits, banners, posters, handbills must not exceed 2×3, 3×9, 18×23 and 6×9, respectively.
It also puts ban on the use of panflex banners, posters and wall chalking.
Furthermore, the administration warned the candidates that a report of violations would be sent to the ECP, and informed that such crackdowns would continue till the general elections are completed and no relaxation would be given to anyone.
