KHYBER: The domicile’s format of former FATA has been modified after FATA-KP merger while the students suffer due to not-yet-approved new design of domicile.

Reportedly, the fresh students of Landi Kotal division, who have passed Senior School Exam (SSC) and seek admissions in colleges, have been refused domicile certificates by the concerned authorities, who await the approval of new design of domicile for its issuance. The domicile has been a mandatory requirement for getting admission in the institutions of tribal region.

Abdurraziq Shinwari, a local political worker, expressed grave concerns over the non-approval of new design of domicile, and considered denying admissions to the students for having domiciles equivalent to putting their future at stake.

He demanded the concerned authorities to immediately take necessary steps to resolve the issue and facilitate the students with some alternative way for getting admissions.

According to sources, after FATA-KP merger, besides many alterations and modifications in the region, the process of acquiring domicile and its format has also been modified.

The old procedure has been halted while the authorities await new rules and regulations for its issuance to the residents. Meanwhile, the tribal students appealed to the governor and the chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to take notice about their problem and resolve it as soon as possible.
