Science, technology minister visits COMSATS University

On his first visit to COMSATS University Islamabad, Mr. Muhammad Yousaf Sheikh, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, was received by Rector, CUI, Professor Raheel Qamar and other high ranking officials of the university. Secretary of the Ministry, Ms. Yasmeen Masood, was also present on the occasion. This was the first visit of the Caretaker Minister to COMSATS University Islamabad after his appointment.

The Federal Minister visited various departments of the University including the Electrical Engineering Labs, Computer Science Labs and was also given a presentation on Holographic Mode of Learning at CUI.

The Federal Minister also visited various high technology labs at COMSATS University including the Nano Sciences Lab, and the High-Power Computing facilities at CUI. The Minister praised high level of research-based education being imparted by COMSATS University and the role its playing in developing Higher Education in Pakistan. The Federal Minister also paid a visit to the Junaid Zaidi Library located at the premises of COMSATS University Islamabad and appreciated their efforts for providing access to the knowledge and learning opportunity for the students from all diaspora.

In a briefing arranged on the occasion of the visit, the Rector highlighted the steadfast support that COMSATS has received from the Ministry of Science and Technology in the past. The Federal Minister acknowledged the role played by COMSATS University Islamabad as an important Higher Education player and assured the Rector CUI of his Ministry’s continued support in the future.The Federal Minister for Ministry of Science & Technology signed the visitors book and was also presented with a shield for the occasion.
