KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar urged the bureaucrats of Sindh to summon courage like their counterparts in Punjab and bravely say no to corruption.

While talking to media during his visit to the industrial areas of the city, he said that the political parties that claim to be the big political parties of the country are not ready to give powers to the local governments.

He said the corruption is damaging the city.

He said he has a lot of reservations that the bureaucracy is not playing due role in resolving the issues of the city. He warned that they live here and they are not strangers in this city and they would not allow anyone to ruin their city. However, he said they are ready for talk to anyone for resolving the genuine issues of Karachi.

He regretted that he sent many proposals to the chief minister of Sindh including updating of fire brigade system in Karachi, but he even did not reply. He said; however, in spite of lack of powers and resources they would continue to serve Karachi and Karachiites. He pledged that the issues of the industrial areas of the city would be resolved on priority.
