Green tomb that shines in the desert of Thar

HYDERABAD: The tomb of Baba Nasrullah Wali in the desert of Thar is a great example of inter-faith harmony where all religions celebrate their respective special occasions at Baba Wali darbar.

The dargah of Baba Wali is located two kilometers away from Umerkot in district Thar.

The devotees from far flung areas of the province pay their visit to the shrine of Baba Wali and pay tribute and devotion to Baba Nasrullah Wali.

There are two rooms reserved for the caretaker (Mujavar) of the shrine where the devotees are served with Langer (Meal at the shrine). These rooms are used by the devotees visiting from far areas for their night stay at the shrine.

Muhammad Bachal, a middle age man takes care of the shrine and visiting people and serve them.

The first Monday of every Islamic month is significant day for the devotees of dargah and people in the forms of groups visit the shrine and pay their tributes to the Nasrullah Baba Wali.Beides this, the month of Muharram exhibits the great inter-faith harmony as the Hindus , Muslims , Siks and people from other beliefs collectively distribute the langer in the remembrance of martyres of Karbala.

Muhammad Bachal, the servant of shrine said that the devotees of the Nasrullah Baba visit regularly , but due to lack of facilities they face many problems adding that the shrine has no facility of clean drinking water.He complained that the government does not heed the dargah and its infrastructure is very poor. He added that the expenses of Dargah are meet by the tribute given by devotees.

Many martyrs of 1965 Indo-Pakistan war are buried inside the dargah .

People living in the vicinity of shrine believe that the shrine is a shield for the entire town and due to the teachings of Nasrullah Wali Baba , there is strong religious harmony among the people of the town.
