KHYBER: The tribeswomen of Jamrud on Monday staged a protest sit-in in front of newly installed grid station against suspension of power supply in the region for more than 22 hours.
Reportedly, the protesters also blocked the Pak-Afghan highway and chanted full throat slogans against the officials of (Tesco).
“The prolonged power outages have crippled all business activities in the entire region and also created severe scarcity of potable water,” they said.
They demanded the administrative authorities to address their issue on priority basis; otherwise they would initiate an indefinite agitation.
“In the scorching heat of summer and incessant power cuts, our families could not sleep properly,” they lamented.
Later they ended their protest when the administrative officials assured them of restoring power supply as soon as possible.
