Forced votes

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Patriarchal attitudes are still very strong in most of the rural areas of Pakistan. It is thought that women ought to vote only for the candidates chosen by her husband, father or brother. Since there isn’t any voter education, women’s votes are constantly stolen by their menfolk.

A single vote can make or break a nation. Being a young citizen of Pakistan, it is my duty to advise all citizens of the country and even those who vote under their family’s pressure, that knowing the right choice but still voting for the wrong one is absolutely wrong. It is better to not vote than to make it a source for Pakistan’s destruction.
