ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were given on Monday a two-day exemption from appearing before the accountability court hearing of the Avenfield references against them.
Earlier today the court resumed hearing of concluding arguments in Avenfield references against former premier Nawaz Sharif and his family.
During the hearing, Nawaz’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (Retd) Safdar’s defense counsel, Amjad Pervez, presented of final arguments in the case.
According to the sources, the counsel requested another exemption on behalf of Nawaz and Maryam as both are in London with ailing Kulsoom Nawaz.
Previously, Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris had submitted final arguments in the accountability court.
Moreover, the court has called Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Additional Director Wajid Zia, who headed the Panama case joint investigation team, on July 3 for the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Caption Safdar are facing three corruption cases in the accountability court after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed references against them in light of the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case last year.
