LONDON: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif intends to return back to his homeland in a week’s time along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

It was disclosed that their decision to fly back to Pakistan was made after consulting with Pakistan Muslim League’s (PML-N) senior leaders and getting pressured by some party workers.

According to the sources, both father and daughter intend to run their party’s campaign ahead of the general elections 2018. Sharif has also asked for preparation of election campaign-related rallies to be made ready in multiple cities.

However, before his flight, a complete check up will also be carried out on Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. Medical updates along with computed tomography (CT) scan will be preceded after which the PML-N supremo will meet up with doctors for updates on his wife’s current condition and progress.

Maryam Nawaz said that her return to her homeland is solely based upon her mother’s health who has been on the ventilator for the past few weeks.  She adds that she will return on her first available flight as soon as she notices a good change in her mother’s ill condition.

The Sharif’s are being held responsible for three corruption cases; money laundering, hiding offshore assets and tax evasion.

On June 7, both father and daughter approved their five-day exemption from their appearance prior to the accountability court regarding their mentioned corruption. They then flee to London to visit their ill mother who  has been under treatment for cancer since last year.
