Anti-corruption lodges case against GWMC’s supervisor for taking bribe

GUJRANWALA: The anti-corruption department on Sunday lodged a case against the Gujranwala Waste Management Company’s (GWMC) official for his alleged involvement in bribery for recruiting employees in the company.

Reportedly, two citizens namely Bilal Ilyas and Bilal Siddique filed an application accusing GWMC’s supervisor Sheikh Tariq of taking Rs 30,000 from each of them for their recruitment in the company.

The applicants further alleged that they were not paid salaries for the last four months, and when they approached GWMC’s DG about the matter, he informed them that they were not in the employees list of the company.

Consequently, the anti-corruption department filed a case and initiated further investigation into the matter.

Child, man crushed to death in road accidents

A child and a man succumbed to their wounds on Sunday in road accidents in Gujranwala.

Reportedly, five-year-old Ibrahim was playing in the street when a rickshaw ran over him. He was rushed to DHQ Hospital where he breathed his last.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Rashid Ahmed was crossing a road when a speeding van crushed him to death.

Labourer electrocuted

A labourer was electrocuted on Sunday in a factory located at Sheikhupura road in Gujranwala.

Reportedly, Aslam suffered severe electric shocks when he suddenly touched a live wire while working in a factory.

Consequently, he died on the spot.
