National Accoun-tability Bureau (NAB) arrested Karachi Development Authority’s (KDA) Additional Director (AD) Muhammad Kamran on Friday.

Muhammad Kamran was wanted in an inquiry initiated on major land fraud committed by the former director general KDA Nasir Abbas and his accomplices on various charges including the embezzlement of lands. Nasir Abbas is currently under NAB’s custody.

Muhammad Kamran had been holding various key positions in KDA under the former DG. In his capacity as AD of KDA, he was allegedly involved in illegally approving transfers of titles and ownerships of a large number of plots, out of which 35 plots have been identified. The said plots are located in various blocks of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

According to the details, under his posting as in-charge Record Room KDA, more than 4,000 original files of plots went missing.

The preliminary interrogation also revealed that there were various irregularities in the appointment of Muhammad Kamran who had been getting accelerated promotions, placements and postings in KDA in return for his illegal actions for personal gains.

Javed Ahmed alias Javed Kancha and Raza Qazalbash, are already in custody of NAB with connection to this case. They were arrested on June 13, 2018. NAB officials confirmed that Muhammad Kamran will be produced before the Accountability Court for physical remand.
