Greenback remains firm in value versus rupee

The dollar closed on steady note in value against the rupee in the interbank and open market, treasurers and currency dealers said. It started the day’s thin trading at Rs 121.40 for buying, with 8 paisas variation in value closed at Rs 121.48 for buying and Rs 121.68 for selling in interbank. The euro witnessed flat trend against rupee as it started day’s trading at Rs 141.35 for buying, closed at same level for buying and closed at Rs 141.55 for selling. The pound sterling remained dull against local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 159.13 for buying and closed at Rs 159.14 for buying and Rs 159.34 for selling after gaining one paisa.

Open market: The dollar remained plus against the rupee, dealers said. It started day’s trading at Rs 123.75 for buying and closed at Rs 123.90 for buying after gaining 15 paisas in value and stood at Rs 124.10 for selling. The euro remained firm versus the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 142 for buying, with 75 paisas change in value it closed at Rs 142.75 for buying and at Rs 142.95 for selling. The pound sterling remained flat against the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 162.25 for buying, closed at same level for buying and closed at Rs 162.45 for selling.
