ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed a hike in prices of petroleum products from July 1.

The regulator has sent a summary to the government for approval, proposing an increase of Rs5.40 per litre for petrol.

The OGRA has also recommended upward revision by Rs10.50 for light diesel, Rs12 per liter for kerosene and Rs6.20 per liter for high speed diesel.

The Ministry of Finance will announce a decision on the proposal on June 30.

On June 11, a few days ahead of Eidul Fitr, the caretaker government had revised prices of petroleum products for the current month. The price of petrol was increased by Rs4.26, high speed diesel by Rs6.55, kerosene oil by Rs4.46 and light diesel oil by Rs6.14 per litre. Earlier, the outgoing PML-N government had decided to keep prices of petroleum products unchanged for the month of June, rejecting a summary submitted by the OGRA.
