HYDERABAD: On the last day of submission of party tickets, the returning officers (ROs) on Friday compiled a final list of candidates contesting election for the national and provincial assemblies of Pakistan.

During a press conference held by Pakistan Peoples Party’s women wing’s Chief Shugufta Jumani, she revealed that four candidates for provincial assembly seat PS-65 constituency of Latifabad namely Saeeduddin, Israr Khan, Imran Leghari and Azhar Siyal withdrew in favour of Pakistan Peoples Party’s female candidate Sanam Talpur.

“The atmosphere of terror and fright has ended in Sindh, and now the general public would be able to cast votes freely and according to their choice,” she said while adding that during the general election-2013, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had a stronghold in Latifabad, where no political rival could dare to contest election against MQM.

She further denounced PPP’s political rivals, and said that alliances were made against PPP in the past, but such alliances would suffer ‘a humiliating defeat’ in the upcoming general election.

She criticised non-political actors, who have been actively playing their role to disrupt country’s democratic process, however PPP would secure majority of the votes and form federal and provincial governments.

Meanwhile, Anjuman-e-Ittehad Abbasia (AIA) Pakistan’s chief Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi has declared to withdraw in favour of Naheed Khan for NA-225 constituency of Hyderabad.

While addressing the media, he asserted that he would support Naheed Khan for the upcoming elections.

Naheed Khan was a close companion of Benazir Bhutto all of her life. She is contesting election as a candidate of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) headed by Pir Pagara.
