Pre-election training for police to begin at its earliest

No negligence would be tolerated in pre-election training so refresher and short courses for a short period of three, five and seven day for Elite Force should start immediately at police stations.

Inspector General Punjab Police Dr Syed Kalim Imam expressed these views while presiding a session of senior officers of Elite Force at Central Police Office on Thursday.

He added that trainers and other officers should play their role for the capacity building of the young personnel to enhance the security management regarding polling duties with the help of different courses.

On this occasion, Additional IG Elite Shahid Hanif, Deputy Inspector General Elite Afzal Mahmood Butt, Commandant Elite Training School Colonel Parvez Iqbal, SOU Director Col (r) Saad Salim, Deputy Director Monitoring Mahmoodul Hassan Gillani and Superintendent Police Headquarter Elite Syed Jaffar Abbas and some other senior officers were also present.

IG Punjab has directed the Additional IG Elite Police force Shahid Hanif to conduct a video link conference with all the RPOs and DPOs and to conclude all the pre-election trainings in all the districts and regions of Punjab under their supervision. He said that to ensure transparent election in peaceful environment, we will have all the support by the commandos of elite police force and these commandos will particularly be deployed for the security of sensitive polling stations.

IG Punjab has directed to officers of elite force that before elections, all possible measures should be taken to enhance the professional skills of the force in all the districts and that special attention should be given to the areas having sensitive polling stations. He said that prompt action should be taken against any individual or political party who will try to sabotage peace, violates law or creates obstruction in the polling process.

Separately, IG Punjab also met IG Railways Police Dr Mujibur Rahman Khan at Central Police office. Both of them discussed areas of cooperation and different common interest while IG Railways also congratulated Kalim Imam for taking the charge as IG of Punjab Police. On this occasion, the police chiefs expressed consensus over making information sharing of both departments better gradually.

IG Punjab was of the opinion that Railway Police with the collaboration of Punjab Police should take effective actions to restrict movement of criminals and anti social elements of society.  He further said both police forces should enhance mutual cooperation to increase capacity building of officers and officials. He moreover said that being Provincial Police Officer I have adopted better policies to resolve problems of my force because it is crystal clear that if head of department cares about his force it will automatically enhance morale of force, by this way officers and officials perform their duties will full commitment.
