Five terrorism suspects arrested from Sibi

LAHORE: Five terrorism suspects were arrested in an intelligence-based operation in Sibi, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

A statement released by the military’s media wing said that arms and communication devices were also recovered from the suspects.

Earlier on June 19, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had claimed that it killed four terrorism suspects in a three-hour-long operation in Tera Meel area of Dasht. The suspects included a woman. Four security officials were injured in the shootout that took place when a CTD team was moving with an under-custody terrorist.

Later that day, DIG Abdul Razzak Cheema and FC commandant Col Rab Nawaz addressed a press conference where they maintained that the deceased were wanted in different terrorist activities including the targeted killing of Levies personnel.

“Our war is against terrorists and the frequency of this war has increased after May 15,” DIG Cheema said, adding that it was the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to continue the war against terrorism. The senior police officer said terrorists were operating by changing their identities.
