Sir: While addressing the citizens of Karachi, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, President of the Muslim League -N, talked about the solution to the water shortage that is affecting the country at the moment. Upon being asked a question by a journalist, regarding the construction of Kala Bagh Dam as a possible solution, he replied that the dam cannot be built at the cost of Pakistan’s solidarity.
I was shocked to hear such words from a dynamic personality like Mian Shahbaz. He is the head of PML-N, a party that has representation in every province in the country. He has the power, as well as the know how to bend people to his will, using logic and common sense. He can bring all the relevant parties together, and ensure them of the success of this project, as well as allay any fears that they might have.
It is absolutely necessary he do this, as the Kala Bagh Dam project is essential in order to end the water scarcity in Pakistan today. I hope my suggestion will not prove to be just a cry in the wilderness.
