Author: Mahwash Ajaz

Ahsan Khan and Hira Mani were seen together earlier in ‘Preet Na Kariyo Koi’, but they are all set to appear again in the much awaited television serial ‘Aangan’ soon to air on Hum TV network. The play is written by Mustafa Afridi and is directed by Ehteshamuddin and also stars Mawra Hocane, Sajal Ali, Ahad Raza Mir and Sonya Hussain. This is a period drama that is set around the time of partition and fans expect nothing less than perfection from this stellar cast and crew.

Speaking about her role, Hira said that it’s a very traditional role. ‘Tehmina is a very principled person,’ Hira explains. ‘She’s the kind of person who has a very clear sense of right and wrong, good and bad.’ Hira’s stills from her shoot show her in traditional garb and long hair and a small, wistful smile on her face. ‘Tehmina is her parents’ favorite, too. It’s a beautiful character. She’s someone who feels love deeply and powerfully.’

Ahsan Khan spoke about his role and said, “It’s more than just a love story. It’s a play that will raise a bar for others. The location, the direction, the acting, it’s taking everything one step forward.”

Hira and Ahsan were seen together in Preet Na Kariyo Koi about two years ago which was also directed by Ehteshamuddin. Ahsan played the anti-hero and Hira played a young, strong-headed woman in love who would go to any lengths to achieve what she wants. The two have since taken different career paths, Hira has done more drama roles (Sun Yaara, Pagli, Thays and Mera Khuda Jaanay) and Ahsan did a film called ‘Chupan Chupai’.

Aangan is set to air soon on television and due to its star cast, it’s one of the most anticipated plays of the season.
