THATTA: Due to a power breakdown and increasing water pressure, main pipeline bursts at the Dhabeji Pumping Station on Thursday which suspended water supply in many areas of Karachi.

According to the executive engineer at the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board, the 72-inch diameter pipeline leaked due to a power breakdown and resulted in the water suspension in many areas.

With the drastic fall in water level in Hub dam, the metropolis is already facing the water shortage.

The Keenjhar lake (Indus River) and Hub dam are the main sources of water in Karachi. Water from these sources is pumped into three main water pumping stations located in Dhabeji, Gharo and Hub.

Citizens have complained in the past as well of the severe water crisis in Karachi.
