Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Syed Kalim Imam said that the management of the Fountain House is doing a great job by helping out socially deprived and mentally challenged people, adding that the management and facilities being provided by Fountain House are of satisfactory quality.

He stated this during a visit to the Fountain House on Wednesday. Deputy Inspector General Operations Shahzad Akbar and PSO to IG Afzaal Ahmed Kausar also accompanied IG Punjab during his visit. IG Punjab was briefed by Fountain House administration regarding the working of different departments of the House.

He visited the women’s ward, art therapy centre and the library of Fountain House where he met aged-women, transgenders and other inhabitants and inquired about their health. He added that it is a great challenge for the victims to get a place in the society after rehabilitation. He also said that he is pleased to see that to counter this challenge, the administration of Fountain House is taking measures in this regard and along with treatment, they are training the patients in different skills so that they would get a job and play their role as responsible citizens afterwards.

IGP Dr Syed Kalim Imam said that the patients are availing advanced treatment by qualified staff which is laudable. While assuring the administration and the doctors, IG Punjab said that on behalf of Punjab Police, I promise complete cooperation and assistance to the Fountain House. At the end of his visit, IG Punjab presented a souvenir to the management of Fountain House while they presented him an artwork as a gift made by the patients.

Separately, IG Punjab also paid a surprise visit to Race Course police station and inspected the performance of the staff, the front desk and duty chart. He directed the officers and personnel to deal with the public in a courteous manner and to perform their duty with honesty and dedication. He ordered that while fulfilling the professional obligation, it should be ensured that the problems of the public would be solved without any delay. He further said that the officers/officials with bad conduct will not be spared so proper attention should be given to every citizen who comes to the police station.
