Reportedly, scores of residents blocked the Pak-Afghan highway while chanting full throat slogans against TESCO officials.
The agitators alleged that TESCO officials did not analyse practicability before allocating power connection to Katta Kushta area while disrupting power supply at Wali Khal area. “Due to prolonged power outages in the area, the tube wells could not function and supply water,” they said while stressing on the issue of water scarcity in the region.
The protesters further accused a few personnel of security agency for favouring the residents of Katta Kushta, and granting them ‘additional’ connection besides the power supply from Jamrud. Importantly, they threatened to boycott the upcoming general election and the anti-polio campaign, if provision of power supply from Wali Khel feeder to Katta Kushta is not suspended.
