SHIKARPUR: The Sukkur Election Tribunal on Wednesday cleared Ameer Ali Jatoi, an independent candidate, to contest election for NA-198 constituency of Shikarpur-Khanpur and disqualified Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) candidate Mir Abid Ali Bhayo for having two Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and possessing two votes at his native village Jagan. Meanwhile, Bhayo has announced to file an appeal against the decision at the apex court.
The PPP’s district president of Shikarpur Bhayo has also served as provincial minister for youth affairs. During the 2013 elections, the elder brother of Mir Abid Khan Bhayo, Mir Babal Khan Bhayo won the election for provincial assembly seat PS-12, now PS-08. However, Babal was disqualified when Jatoi accused him of having a seminary (Madrassa) degree. Moreover, the tribunal also rejected allegations filed by Agha Taimoor Khan Pathan against PPP candidate Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, who is contesting election for PS-07 and also cleared another PPP candidate Agha Siraj Khan Durrani to contest election for PS-09 while rejecting objections raised by PTI candidates.
