PAF fears death of two pilots as fighter jet crashes in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Two pilots of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were martyred on Tuesday as a training fighter jet crashed in Peshawar.

According to officials, the jet blew up after a crash-landing at the Bacha Khan International Airport.

A statement came in from the PAF stating “Pakistan Air Force reports with regret that a PAF FT-7PG trainer aircraft while recovering from a routine operational training mission crashed during landing at Peshawar airbase, Rescue operation is in progress.”

However, PAF officials have not yet confirmed the death of the two pilots.

According to sources, the aircraft crashed around 11:40 am near customs landing runaway.

It is believed that the plane crashed due to some technical fault.

According to an eye-witness “the pilots tried to save the nearby civilian population and steered the jet towards the runway but it blew up during crash-landing.”

Sn emergency was declared at the airport after the crash, however, the rescue officials managed to put out the fire and cleared the runway.

Earlier initial reports came in that a fighter jet blew up during a crash-landing at Bacha Khan International Airport.

According to officials, the aircraft crashed after taking off from the airport, catching fire.

The smoke from the flamed jet was visible from the airport.

However, according to officials no loss of life was inflicted nor any damage to the property has been reported as yet.
