LARKANA: The Additional District & Sessions Judge (BS-20), Larkana, Gul Zameer Solangi on Tuesday tendered his resignation after Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) ordered for his immediate transfer.

In his written resignation letter addressed to the Registrar, Sindh High Court, Karachi, on June 26, 2018, Judge Gul Zameer said that “I am working on the post of Additional District & Sessions Judge, since March 20, 2017 at Larkana.”

Solangi added that “due to humiliating behaviour of Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) His Lordship Mr. Justice Saqib Nisar during “Ongoing Court Proceedings” of my court, which was widely aired in the electronic, print and social media, I have suffered deep anguish and injury to my self-respect and dignity, therefore, I am unable to continue my job with your esteemed organization.”

The letter further read “therefore, I tender my resignation from my above-mentioned post, which may kindly be accepted with immediate effect”.

However, Judge Solangi didn’t respond to his scribe when he called to confirm the news of the resignation.

Moreover, Sindh High Court’s registrar has denied recieving any resignation from Solangi saying “by rule, an additional district and sessions judge has to sumbit his resignation to a district and sessions judge who acts upon it, whereas Solangi used a simple page to write resignation, so no action can be taken.”

It must be mentioned that CJP during his visit to the District & Sessions Courts, Larkana, on June 23, 2018, had grilled the judge after spotting his cell phone over his table in the court and threw it with a warning to avoid using the gadget while at work.

CJP Nisar had ordered him to leave cell phone in chambers during court proceedings.

The raged CJP had ordered transfer of the judge Solangi after he had failed to answer CJP’s questions regarding the ongoing case. Despite repeated calls to senior lawyers in Larkana, nobody confirmed if the transfer order had been given or not.
