Ed Sheeran owns Jimmy Fallon’s show with eccentric version of ‘Shape of You’

Two times Grammy winner Ed Sheeran teamed up with TV program ‘The Tonight Show’s’ host Jimmy Fallon and musical group Roots to create a newer version of ‘Shape of You’.  They used kiddie instruments such as ukulele, rainbow xylophone, tambourine, kazoo and occasional drumbeat by Fallon. ‘Teen choice awards’ winner jazzed up his act by pumping a banana shaped shaker and sang along to the beats of the music.

It did seem as if Fallon was enjoying the music as he had a million-dollar smile on his face, as if he had won a lottery ticket. As Fallon was too busy having fun with the music, there were times he would even forget to hit the drum with the mallet. However, musical group ‘The roots’ had it all under control. Using their symphonic skills, they maintained a very pumped up jamming session, where Ed Sheeran was the highlight of the show.

‘Shape of You’ will be on Ed’s latest album ‘Divide’, which will release on March 3. The single was released back in January and it topped Billboard’s Hot 100 list. The collaboration with Roots and Fallon has received 3,032,495 views already.  Could it top the Billboard list too? Fans seemed to be loving the new touch given to the song. Unfortunately, this version wouldn’t be included in his album.

Fallon is known to have these ‘Classroom instruments’ segments. He started them back in 2012, with Carly Rae Jepsen’s super hit song ‘Call me maybe’, followed by various A list singers which included Marian Carey, Meghan Trainor, Christiana Aguilera, Madonna and Adele.
