HYDERABAD: PS-56 Islamkot and PS-57 Diplo candidate Sunita Parmar joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) on Monday, a decision that has caused an uproar among people of Thar and social media alike.

Commenting on Sunita’s decision to join PSP, Political activist RB Junejo said: “I don’t think it is a wise move from Sunita to join PSP. PSP is not a representative of rural Sindh.” It was added that the youth would not support her if he contests elections while siding with PSP.

Teejan, a Thari lady expressed her deep sorrow over Sunita’s decision, saying that it is better to withdraw from elections than to join hands with PSP since the party will never support Thari locals. “I don’t know if it is Sunita’s independent decision, or she has been made to take such a step,” she added.

Advocate Leelaram Meghwar also opposed Sunita’s decision. He said Sunita would have garnered immense support if she had maintained her position as an independent candidate. The people in Thar want change, they want new faces, Leelawar added.

Socio-political activist Dharmendar Kolhi said that a political party that has never done anything to solve the issues in Sindh can not represent the people of Thar. He added that PSP has nothing in common with the people of Thar as far as tradition and culture is concerned.

Daily Times also reached out to Sunita Parmar’s spokesperson, her brother-in-law Sajan Parmar, who said that the decision to join PSP will be in favour of Thar residents.
