RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa has assures Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif complete support of intelligence agencies and the military in bid to PSL final a secure event.

The army chief telephoned the chief minister today and deliberated over the situation in Punjab. During the discussion, General Bajwa assured CM Shehbaz of military’s complete support to Punjab Police to make Lahore a safe venue for PSL final match.

On the occasion, the chief minister said that a fool-proof security strategy would be ensured for safety of the foreign players and the people.

CM Shehbaz thanked support of the army chief for the cause. He lauded sacrifices of the army in war on terror.

The final match of PSL 2017 is to be played on March 5 in Gaddafi Stadium of Lahore.

The management of PSL and Pakistan Cricket Board countered the odds of shifting the event to Dubai after a suicide attack on February 13 that claimed 14 lives in Lahore.

Government of Punjab permitted the cricket authority earlier this week to conduct the final in the provincial capital after meeting of an apex committee contemplated over the issue.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review law and order situation and security plan for Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Lahore due on March 5.

During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the security forces to ensure foolproof security, while directives have also been issued to deploy police officers at mosques, imam bargahs, churches and other worship places.
