Commissioner directs DMOs to ensure implementation of poll code of conduct

LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Division Dr Muhammad Mujtaba Paracha on Monday directed all District Monitoring Officers (DMOs) regarding General Election 2018 to implement the code of conduct devised by the Election Commission of Pakistan in letter and spirit.

He has instructed to remove all banners, panaflexes, billboards, material etc advertised by candidates in violation of ECP’s permitted parametres. He said that administration would leave no stone unturned to implement the ECP’s policy for free and fair elections.

He also said to arrange a training workshop for DMOs and MOs for better understanding and limits for the smoothness of the upcoming general election.

District Election Commissioner Lahore briefed the meeting regarding the general elections.

Regional Police Officer Sheikhupura Sohail Tariq, Senior Superintendent Police Operations Ammara Tariq, DC Lahore Anwarul Haq, DC Kasur, DC Sheikhupura, DC Nankana Sahib and other officers participated.

In the meeting, District Election Commissioner Lahore informed that there are 3,899 polling stations in Lahore and more than 14,000 polling officials are being trained. He also informed that in every provincial constituency, two monitoring officers would be deputed to maintain the code of conduct of ECP.
