LAHORE: A calling attention notice was filed Tuesday in the Punjab Assembly against a harrowing incident in which a 15-year-old boy – suffering from a psychological disorder – was allegedly put on burning coals by a female ‘faith healer’ trying to get a “monster” out of the boy in a remote village located just 40km away from the provincial capital.

Sadia Sohail Rana of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), through the notice, asked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to brief the House on such serious criminal activity in the province.

According to details, two days ago, Karamat Hussain, a resident of Shahpur village, took his teenage son, Nasir, to a ‘faith healer’ Yasmin in Khiali village for treatment of his son suffering from psychological disorder.

However, Yamin burnt an amulet and allegedly put the boy on burning coals against the wish of the Nisar’s father. The boy suffered severe burns and was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

Sources said that the victims was receiving some fits associated with some abnormal electrical activity in the brain but Yasmin confirmed his father that the boy had some monster inside him and she could get such monster out through his spiritual powers.

The mover of the notice asked the chief minister to inform the House about the action taken against the ‘faith healer’ and measures taken by the Punjab government to halt such activities across the province.
